Why Chiropractic? |
Why Acupuncture? |
Chiropractic care is a manual method of treatment developed many years ago as a way of maintaining health and treating neurological and musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractic care focuses on abnormal movements of the spine and the effects these movements have on the body.
The goal of an adjustment is to maximize mobility and optimize nervous system function. This helps the body return to unrestricted movement. It also provides an additional means of treatment in addition to traditional medicine. Chiropractic care is an excellent treatment option for spinal problems and musculoskeletal disorders. It is effective for both acute and chronic conditions. Chronic conditions usually require more time to resolve, but most animals show significant improvement after one to four treatments. |
Acupuncture is the use of needles inserted into specific points on the body to produce a healing response. This technique has been in use for thousands of years and can treat a wide variety of problems.
Stimulation of acupuncture points produces specific changes in the nervous system. It can assist the body in self healing by affecting certain physiological changes such as stimulation of nerves, decreasing inflammation, increasing blood circulation and aiding in release of hormones. Acupuncture can relieve pain and muscle spasms as well. It can be used along with traditional medicine. Acupuncture is an excellent treatment option for disorders involving pain, paralysis and inflammation. It can be used for acute and chronic conditions. Most patients show improvement after one to four treatments, sometimes longer for chronic conditions. |

Who will benefit from Chiropractic and Acupuncture?
Chiropractic and Acupuncture have the ability to help just about any patient. Improvement will vary from individual to individual. They can be used together, and in many circumstances, this is ideal. There may be situations where one modality is better suited for the condition. Please call to discuss your pet's case.
What to ExpectThis holistic approach consists of a thorough history, observation and palpation of the patient and then the treatment(s). For chiropractic, every accessible joint in the patient will be assessed to determine where the adjustments are needed- this includes the entire spine and all four limbs. Manual techniques are used that are specific and gentle, yet effective. For acupuncture, needles are placed in points specific to the patient's needs and condition(s). Other acupuncture modalities ultilized may include electroacupuncture, aquapuncture and moxibustion. The appointment may last as long as 90 minutes if both chiropractic and acupuncture are done.
